Microsoft Defender Suite — Enterprise-Grade Security That Pays for Itself

Cyberattacks are no longer a question of if — but when. Ransomware, identity-based attacks and phishing remain the leading threats facing organisations across Europe, and regulations such as NIS2 and DORA have made adequate protection a legal obligation, not a choice. The challenge for most organisations is not a lack of awareness — it’s the complexity and cost of building a comprehensive security environment from disconnected point solutions. Microsoft Defender Suite addresses exactly that.

What is Microsoft Defender Suite?

Microsoft Defender Suite is not a single product — it is an integrated collection of enterprise-grade security solutions, managed through the familiar Microsoft security portals — including the Microsoft Defender portal and the Microsoft Entra admin center. It replaces the need for multiple unconnected tools from different vendors, bringing endpoint protection, identity security, email defence, cloud app visibility and extended threat detection under one unified ecosystem.

Available as an add-on to Microsoft 365 E3, Office 365 E3, and Enterprise Mobility + Security E3, Defender Suite brings capabilities previously reserved for Microsoft 365 E5 to organisations that do not need — or are not yet ready for — a full enterprise plan upgrade. For organisations with Frontline Workers, Microsoft offers a dedicated Defender Suite for Frontline Workers edition, available for F1 and F3 licences at a lower price point.

What’s included?

Most components in Defender Suite are available as standalone Microsoft security products. Together, they form a layered, integrated defence across every major attack surface — complemented by capabilities such as Safe Documents, which are exclusively available as part of the Suite and cannot be purchased separately.

Unified visibility. Faster response.

Managing security across multiple disconnected tools creates blind spots. Alerts from different systems require manual correlation, response times are slower and IT teams spend more time switching between consoles than actually responding to threats.

With Defender Suite, signals across endpoints, identities, email and cloud are correlated automatically through Microsoft Defender XDR — presenting a unified incident view and enabling faster detection, investigation and response. Security teams work within a familiar Microsoft ecosystem, with significantly less operational overhead — fewer vendors, fewer contracts, fewer integrations to maintain.

Buying Security Products Separately? You’re Probably Overpaying.

Microsoft Defender Suite brings together more than eight standalone security products into a single, integrated package. Purchasing even two or three of these components separately would likely exceed the cost of the entire Suite — while delivering significantly less coverage.

Who is it designed for?

Defender Suite is well suited to organisations that:

  • Are running Microsoft 365 E3, Office 365 E3, Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 and need stronger security without moving to E5
  • Operate in regulated industries — financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, legal — where identity governance and audit trails are mandatory
  • Have hybrid environments — combining on-premises infrastructure with cloud services. Defender for Identity monitors on-premises Active Directory for suspicious behaviour and lateral movement, while Entra ID P2 extends identity protection and access governance to cloud resources — with signals from both environments correlated through Defender XDR into a single incident view
  • Are building or maturing a Zero Trust security strategy
  • Have experienced a security incident and need to strengthen their posture rapidly

Already on Microsoft 365 E3? You’re closer than you think.

Organisations on Microsoft 365 E3 can add Defender Suite as a direct add-on — without migrating to a new plan, without disrupting existing workflows and without the cost of a full E5 upgrade. It is a practical and cost-effective path to enterprise-grade security that works with what you already have.
